your next steps

Your website is live!

I have suggestions for what to do next,

to promote your website and

create a strong online presence.

1. share your website

When your new website goes live, the most important thing for you to do is drive traffic to it. This will help Google index it faster and start improving your SEO rankings immediately.

Ways to share your new website:

EMAIL NEWSLETTER

If you have an email list or newsletter, share that your new website has launched and how it can potentially benefit them.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Use this valuable tool to get the word out about your website wherever you are active – Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, X, even Neighborhood Apps, depending on your business or organization.

v

WORD OF MOUTH

Simply sharing with friends, family, organizations you belong to and other businesses can be a valuable way to spread the word about not only your new website, but your business. Use this opportunity to market your business with everyone you can!

2. ask for reviews

Online reviews are crucial. They help potential customers find you and have confidence in you and your business. Launching a new website is a perfect time to ask your current customers for a review.

Review request options:

GOOGLE

Google reviews are the most important because these reviews will show when someone searches for your business online or in maps. It’s where most people find you before they visit your website.

FACEBOOK

Facebook is also an active and reputable spot for reviews. If you ask a client to leave a review, have them share it on their profile and are okay with you sharing it on yours.

WEBSITE TESTIMONIALS

Ask your clients for testimonials to post on your new website. Some may prefer sending directly to you instead of posting online. Most potential customers read website reviews as well as other places before taking action to engage with you.

3. keep it updated

Make sure your site is updated with any changes to your business (business hours, holiday hours, events, change in services, etc). You DO NOT want outdated or inaccurate information on your website. It makes you lose credibility.

Google likes an active site!

If you don’t have other changes to make, you can update images or graphics once or twice a year to keep it interesting and “active” for Google.

Keep it accurate and fresh, especially if you have repeat or recurring visitors.

4. add content

When your site has been live for a while, you can start to add more content to it. This not only keeps it active, it adds more opportunity for SEO, which helps people searching find your site. Having an active or alive site can dramatically help your SEO which drives more traffic to your site!

Adding new content also gives you an opportunity to promote the new content, your site and your business.

Ways to add content:
l

BLOG

Blogs are an excellent way to engage with your current and potential customers. Write articles about topics that you know well and that are good information for your site visitors. This will help give you credibility by sharing your expertise. Even information that seems elementary to you can be valuable for your website visitors. Plus, it gives you content to share in other places such as email newsletters, social media, etc.

NEW PAGES

Adding new pages is a excellent way to add more content to your site! If you have services, products or events, create a page for each one where you can go more into depth about what you offer.

If your business serves a particular area, you can create pages specific to each city which can greatly help with local SEO.

BUSINESS UPDATES

If anything with your business changes, make sure to update your website! Incorrect or outdated information is a big turnoff. Even minor updates keep your site active to Google, which is very beneficial.
